Oldest Son Getting Married

My oldest son, Justin Ulysses Morse, born in 1972, is getting married next Friday, July 10, 2009. The ceremony will be in a park in Minneapolis. The reception will be at a classy restaurant. I'm looking forward to it except for the fact that his father (my ex-husband) and all the Morse relatives will be there. The wedding and reception can be handled by just ignoring them. However, there's a rehearsal dinner the night before, which will have far less people. Thankfully my second son and his wife will be there. I'll just sit by them.

My oldest child, my daughter Jennifer, will also be there. She has chosen not to speak to me for the last twenty years. Her two children, Jake and Sara, whom I've never met, thanks to Jennifer, will also be there. Also her husband Dave, whom I've never met. My daughter always did like to cut off her nose to spite her face. Not only has she missed out on a mother/daughter relationship all these years, she has also deprived her children and me the grandmother/grandchild relationship that could have been so special.

I'll keep you posted as to how it all turns out. Part of me wishes they had just eloped. I feel pretty stressed. It sounds like it could be a very hurtful situation for me. Maybe if I just ignore the Morse family, I'll be able to get through it. I'll just concentrate on what a wonderful and joyful time it is for Justin and Ruth.
That's all for now.
